Oh, My Gosh the Sun was Out!
It has rained everyday for the last week and today the sun was finally out. it was so nice to wake up and see blue skies.
I have a couple of paintings that have been waiting all week to have their pictures taken. Unfortunately for them Saturdays have turned into Noah’s Day and they are going to have to wait until tomorrow. I am crossing my fingers that the sun will be out!
After swimming and baseball Noah and I went to a little carnival at a local park. We had hot dogs and fries, took a couple trips on the Ferris wheel and the scrambler , played a few games and ate some yummy ice-cream. It was a lot of fun.

Black and White...
I love using vibrant colors. The louder the orange, the brighter the blue and the hotter the pink the happier I am. Oddly enough my newest drawings don’t feature any color at all. I have been sitting down with a vintage book page and a sharpie and I just doodle. I have no plan, no preconceived notion about what I am going to draw I just completely live in the moment and do whatever pops into my head. It is so much fun, so relaxing, and I am really excited about the finished products.
Noah was actually the inspiration behind my new pieces of art. He draws a lot of little cartoons. Normally he just uses a pen and draws whatever pops into his head. I love his cartoons. Right now he is into drawing birds. (There must be something in our water.) I love how raw and unrefined his pieces are. There is so much innocence in his lines; I wish I could draw like that. He always asks me who my favorite artists are and I always say him and his sister.
Featured in these new pieces are my favorite subjects at the moment, owls and roosters. I know that these new images are going to appear on cards and collages for sure. I was also thinking of doing a 2012 calendar and some art pillows. Whatever I decide to create with them I will be sure to share them with all my wonderful readers.

Follow your Yellow Brick Road
My newest painting “follow your yellow brick road” was inspired by memories from my childhood, my sister, and the belief that you can do anything if you believe in yourself.
When I was little our yard in the spring would be covered in dandelions. My sister and I would run around the yard pretending we were in the Wizard of Oz and the dandelion covered lawn was the famous yellow brick road. We would enjoy playing in the sea of yellow and after the flowers turned our own little snow storm. Dandelions bring back so many wonderful memories.
The two girls at the top of the hill represent my sister and me. We have taken very different yellow brick roads but have always been there to support each other and cheer each other on. Whenever anything new or exciting happens to me she is the first person I call. I am so proud of the women she has become. I am so lucky to have such a smart, loving, and supportive sister.

Finally...
This afternoon I finally took a little time and started my flower seeds. I have had them for weeks but I haven’t made any time to plant them. I’m glad I finally took the time to start them. Now all I have to do is start the garden, edge all the flower beds, fill the beds with mulch, and plant flower and herbs, ok I have a lot of yard work to do yet. I need to hire a really cute lawn boy.
Abbey loves helping, well kind of, she loves walking around with the watering can and asking me what she can water. I had bought three packs of pansies and the one pack was in desperate need of water. She was so cute when she saw the droopy flowers. She looked at me and said, “Mom the flowers are sad.” She is such a cutie. After she drowned them in water she needed her picture taken with them and then she took Isabel’s picture with the flowers.

Happy May !!!
I am so excited that today is the first day of May. The days are getting warmer, the flowers are coming up, it’s almost time to plant the garden, and summer is right around the corner.
This weekend was a lot of fun. Saturday was busy with swimming lessons in the morning and Noah’s first baseball game in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day for a game. Noah did great he had four hits, scored, and played great defense. I love watching my kids having fun and doing things that they enjoy.
After baseball the men in my life had a boy’s night out and I had a peaceful night alone. It was full of creating art and watching chick movies. I am hoping to share my new creations this week. My son’s artwork was the inspiration behind my newest creations.
Today Michael and I had a date day full of shopping, a yummy brunch, and just enjoying being together. I love my little angels and have so much fun when the four of us are together, but sometimes it is so nice when it’s just the two of us.
I am looking forward of month full of family, laughter, creating, and enjoying life.
