Almost That Time of Year!!!

I love creating pumpkins, whether it is with colored pencils or acrylic paint they are one of my favorite subjects. Since I am learning to work with watercolors I thought it was about time I tried painting a pumpkin.  I really enjoy working with watercolors.
Here is a early autumn painting!

An Owl, a Sunflower, and a Butterfly ...

I wanted to share two new paintings that I listed in my shop! Both of these paintings were created on stretched canvases, I know me painting on canvas!!! I can't remember the last time I painted on canvas, it actually was a nice change. I am really happy with the appearance and the texture of the pieces.

The first painting I completed was the White Butterfly resting on the Sunflower. I love how the center of the sunflower came out. The colors really fade nicely into one another. Whenever I look into the center of a sunflower I don't just see brown or black I see a rainbow of colors. Sunflowers have been one of my favorite flowers to create since I have been a kid. They are just so bold and striking yet simple and uncomplicated.
I thought a white butterfly would be a nice stark contrast to the colorful butterfly. They are simply beautiful.

My favorite thing about this painting is that it is a bit spooky, I would not say he is a cute owl. I love how piercing his eyes are. I think the combination of the color and size of his eyes give him a creepy appearance. Another detail I love about the painting is the ability to see the teal background stand out among the feather colors. I think it adds a beautiful depth to the art.

Have a beautiful Thursday!!!

Saturday in New York

Saturday Michael and I went to New York City to go to the Renegade Craft Fair in Brooklyn. I have been to so many craft fairs in my life but nothing like this. It was so different. There were so many unique and creative artists and crafts people. It was so inspiring. It was neat to see sellers from Etsy in person. There were a few shops and artists that I met that I had used their items in treasuries or their shop’s are part of my favorites. The artists that were there were from all over the country, Oregon, Texas, the whole show was an amazing experience. I joked with Michael that we have to go to the one in San Francisco and see what that one is like. So I have a new goal for myself and that is to apply to the Brooklyn show next year!

Could you ask for a better backdrop to a craft fair?!?!?

Brooklyn!

Amazing!!!

I love this!!!

Kaleidoscope Rooster on a Hill of Daisies

I finally have some new art to share!!! Meet my newest creation, "Kaleidoscope Rooster on a Hill of Daisies"!  It has been so long since I have sat and created anything! It felt so good! The kiddies were not home Sunday so I sat myself outside under our curly willow tree and painted all day. I started at 9:30 and finally finished at 5. There truly is nothing better than enjoying a quiet June day painting. The sun was shining, a light breeze was blowing, the birds were singing, I was surrounded by inspiration!

I have been very upset about Abbey going off to kindergarten in August, I am going to miss her so much. I have been a stay-at-home mom for a decade and now it is over. It's scary. I went from a college student to a mom in a blink of an eye and I have never had a career never had a chance to go for what I truly want. Honestly I think it has taken me the last ten years to figure out what I want. I finally have the confidence and desire to follow my dreams and I have a clear picture of what my dreams are. I have so many plans and ideas but as excited as I am I am also terrified. Taking the time to paint Sunday helped me realize that I am ready for the next step. It was so rewarding getting to do what I loved all day! I know that I will be heart broken when Abigail steps on the bus in August but at the same time I finally get to see what I can do.

 Have a Wonderful Tuesday!!!

HI!

Hi! Wow I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything in over a month! I am a bad blogger, artist, the list goes on and on! I wish I had some art to share, but I do not. Creating a piece of art is a goal I am making for myself this week! I miss creating.

Let me see a lot has happened since the last time I posted, I helped put together an art show and craft fair at my daughters school. I think I am finished with my volunteering resolution for the year. I also learned that volunteering in my children’s classrooms is all the volunteering I will be doing and I am not a mom who should be part of parents groups, not good with the politics, backstabbing, drama, ect.

Noah celebrated his 10th Birthday which happened to fall on Mother’s Day this year. I can’t believe he is 10. Where has the last decade gone?! I am so proud of the young man he is becoming! He traded in his cello a couple of weeks ago and now is playing the bass. I never played a musical instrument and I just think it is amazing. He is taking lessons this summer and also wants to start playing the drums in the fall. For his birthday we bought him a set of golf clubs he is taking lessons this summer and last Friday played his first 9 holes with his dad.

Miss Abigail graduates from preschool tonight. I am so sad; my baby is all grown up in a couple of months she will be getting on the bus with Noah. I am not taking her going to kindergarten very well. I am going to take plenty of tissues tonight. The last two years have gone so fast. When they announce the child’s name they also say what they want to be when they grow-up, my daughter who is a dreamer like me wants to be a Rock Star! I think it’s cute!

Hopefully the next time I post I will be including a new piece of art. Have a great day!
