Peacock on a Poppy Hill ...
Things that make me happy, Orange.
Here are a few images of my folk-art painting, “Peacock on Poppy Hill”. This vibrant painting was created on a recycled tabletop in acrylic paint. I had a lot of fun creating this piece but I am happy it is finished. I hate doing the same thing over and over again and painting all of those feathers was a little tedious. I think I will wait a little while before I tackle another peacock.

Vibrant Barn Owl ...
Things that make me happy, feeling better and doing what I Love!
I have a couple of hours three afternoons a week when I can paint and create uninterrupted. Between not feeling well and other obligations I haven’t been able to use that time for art. This week I could not wait to create something. After I dropped Abbey off at preschool I would hurry home, turn on some music and paint. This is the first painting I finished this week, I also have a fabulous, colorful rooster in the works. It feels wonderful to feel good and to be able to do something I truly love.
Here are a few more pictures of my "Vibrant Barn Owl" painting.

All the Pretty Colors ...
It’s a cold cloudy winter’s day that is in desperate need of some fabulous color. The landscape is painted in whites, grays, and browns. It’s pretty and peaceful but, it is also a little sad. It really could use some vibrant blues and greens or some warm oranges and pinks. Here are a few colorful pictures that make the gray a little less gray.

The kiddies and I were playing with Play-Doh yesterday. I made a little house scene and then edited on the computer, it’s bright and fun. I love Play-Doh.

This is a close up of my "Good Morning Rooster" painting.

Patchwork Stocking with Vintage Christmas Ornaments …
I finally found inspiration and started creating holiday themed paintings. I pulled out some vintage ornaments, fired up the old record player with records from my childhood and tried to think snow. This is the first painting I completed. I am hoping to create some more holiday inspired creations once the Halloween rush slows down. Between Halloween parties, costume making, and carving pumpkins there has not been much time to paint.

Good Day Green Rooster ...
Happy Sunday! I wanted to share my newest painting, “Good Day Green Rooster”. I have been having such a wonderful time painting lately. I have been enjoying all the inspirational colors around me and putting them into my pieces.
I know I have to focus on the upcoming holiday season but I can’t seem to get into the Christmas spirit. I can’t seem to get all the amazing fall colors out of my head. I know I should be dreaming of a white Christmas but instead I’m dreaming of vibrant fall skies and brilliant orange pumpkins. I hope when I get back to work Tuesday I’m thinking of snowmen not jack-o-lanterns.
Have a wonderful Sunday.

Orange House in Teacup ...
Fun, vibrant colors, and new paint were the inspiration behind this painting.
I don’t buy too many paint colors. I buy the basics and mix most of my colors. I had an art professor in college who beat that into our heads. She said real artist mix their own colors, even black they don’t buy it. I still mix my own black, but I have a bottle of it that I use occasionally, shhh don’t tell. When I was online buying my yellow ochre and white titanium I spotted a fabulous pink, Fluorescent Pink. I thought it be fun especially for Christmas balls and the occasional bright pop. I love the color and used it throughout this painting.
Like the rooster painting I sat outside on a blanket and enjoyed the beautiful summer weather while I created this piece. I just wanted to paint for fun, it was more like therapy than work.
Featured in the teacup is a whimsical little orange house with a black cat gazing out of one of the windows. A pretty pink brush tree, a glittery apple tree, and buttons complete the teacup. Hanging around the cup is a moon, sun, and star. I’ve decorated the flowers at the bottom of the painting with buttons.
