An Owl, A Blue Moon, and a Pretty White Flowering Tree 3 Little Paintings

I finally was able to get back in the studio Tuesday and create some art. Life has been hectic between extra activities with the kiddies, tons of yard and house work, and life in general my art has taken a back seat. I cannot wait for the day when creating is up higher on the things to do list!




Here are the fun paintings I worked on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. I had so much fun creating my last three little paintings I decided to create another trio. This collection features a fun colorful owl, a whimsical blue moon, and a pretty white flowering tree.

New Paper Banners in my little Etsy shop

I have been waiting the last couple of days to take some new pictures of my art, but the sun has been hiding. I wanted to share a few pictures of my new art banner that I took inside. I really hope the sun makes an appearance tomorrow.

Things that make me happy, OWLS!

I love painting and drawing owls. I just think they are so beautiful. This adorable owl is modeled after the Northern Saw-whet Owl of North America. At the end of January I borrowed a bird book, well actually more like a bird encyclopedia from the library. I have renewed it three times because I can’t seem to get enough of the beautiful birds inside, especially the owls. The owl this little guy was modeled after is so cute. The owls look like they have huge sunglasses on; their faces are full of so much character.

The original piece was created with colored pencil, pastels, and pen on a vintage book page.

Things that Make me Happy, Painting!

Painting!

Having a little time to paint always makes me happy.

I donated this painting to my daughter’s preschool. It was one of their door prizes at their book fair. I hope whoever won the painting enjoys it!

A Tractor, an Owl, and some Berries …

If I had time for a hobby I would choose photography. I love wondering around out in nature and taking photos. I have no idea what I am doing I just like taking pictures of things I find interesting. A couple of weeks ago I escaped for a few hours and went exploring. I usually take the camera everywhere I go, but it is tough to relax and enjoy the peacefulness of it all when you have a duo of noise makers and professional question askers in the car.

I love anything rusty, old, or falling apart. I pulled over along the side of the road and took this picture. I think it’s so pretty.




My art has been going to the birds lately. I just think they are so beautiful and so much fun to create, especially owls. Their faces hold so much personality. This is a colored pencil and pastel drawling I completed on a brown paper bag. Brown paper bags have become my favorite paper to create on. It holds the pencil and pastels so well, plus it is very green oh and inexpensive. I also have a new Owl painting in the works and some fabulous Peacocks!





Here are a few pictures I took while wandering around a local park. It was such a peaceful and relaxing afternoon.

Finally, blue skies and some new Art …

Today was a great day. The sun was shining, the sky was bright blue and I completed two new creations to put in my Etsy shop.






This little creation features a print of my “Sunlight” drawling. I printed it on a piece of photo cloth and then built the collage around the print. I used vintage sequins and beads, glitter, recycled clothing, old music pages, pastels and colored pencils, vintage lace and table cloths. Everything was hand sewn on a piece of canvas. I then attached the canvas to a recycled box that I colored with pastel and colored pencil.

“Love Lifted Me” is the name of this piece of fabric art. It features a cloth print of one of my pastel drawings. I have hand sewn all of my vintage and recycled goodies around the print to create a cheery collage. I lightly stained parts of the artwork to give it an older look. It’s a perfect piece for this time of year.

Sunlight ... Please!

I feel like I have been trapped in the house for the last month. If it hasn’t been the beautiful weather keeping the kids home from school it’s been the flu. They were even sweet enough to share the flu with me last week. It was horrible; I wish I could get my energy back. Doing the smallest chore makes me want to crawl into bed and take a nap. Between the next looming winter storm and being exhausted I’m starting to get a little grouchy, ok very grouchy.

This is a sunny, warm, happy, piece of art I created this past week. Think Sunlight!

Original Folk-Art Painting... Christmas Owl

Meet my little Christmas owl. He is sitting on a silver tree dressed in typical holiday colors. Hanging next to him on the branch is a red Christmas ball with an owl silhouette painted on it. White snowflakes are falling from the light blue sky.

I am hoping to turn this little painting into Christmas cards for the holiday season. Have a beautiful Wednesday!!!

Orange Owl …

This is my newest painting “Orange Owl”. I am really happy with how he came out .I wanted him to be vibrant and colorful. I love pairing orange and teal, it creates such a beautiful contrast. His colors are perfect for the fall season. Bright skies and colorful fall leaves were the inspiration behind this painting.

I created this painting on a recycled vintage tabletop. I had several vintage end tables in my basement and I recently disassembled them. What I was left with was some beautiful sturdy surfaces to paint on and several ornate spindle legs for other new projects. What I really like about this tabletop was the appearance of a frame around the center of the table.
